Viral videos are everywhere, from David After Dentist to any video of babies laughing or being silly. Viral Videos are videos that become very popular on the Internet after being shared and viewed by just about everyone online. People share the videos with their friends and family, which then gets shared more to other friends and keeps going around the Internet like a pack of gum in class.
I remember watching the David After Dentist video, which I thought was hilarious, and then watching all the different remixes and edits of it that many other programmers made. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s really quite hilarious, as David’s father records his son who is drugged out after having a tooth pulled.
Now, there are tons of other viral videos, but two of my favorites both involve Darth Vader.
The first, is the video that Disney made for the new edition of Star Tours that they did after they refurbished it. It follows as Darth Vader goes through Disneyland and goes on the rides with his Storm Trooper escorts. I think the lack of dialogue makes it all the funnier and the classic Vader’s Theme Song from the original Star Wars movies adds to it. Watching Vader’s reactions as he goes through the rides such as The Haunted Mansion made me chuckle, as an avid Star Wars and Disney fan.
I also loved the ad that BMW did for the Super Bowl last year with the little boy dressed as Darth Vader trying to use the force on various objects throughout his house, ending with his father making him think he turned the car on himself. It’s one that nearly everyone has seen already and grown to love, but I love watching it over and over, especially the original extended version (only a minute, but still longer than the normal 30 second commercial time).
Videos will keep going viral, from the Kony 2012 video that raised awareness to videos of small babies being cute and hilarious, and there’s no stopping them at this point.
